Distance: not sure
Time: one hour
Surface: concrete/asphalt
Weather Conditions: cool, sunny, 60s, late afternoon run
Location: Miraflores, Lima, Peru
Secret weapon: Underworld
Comments: Surprised myself and got a whole hour in. My knee felt sore today trotting about in my dress shoes so I stretched really well (and got in my situps too). I started off using back streets rather than down the busy Av. Javier Pardo and it took a lot of the early adrenaline off the run leaving me more in the tank for later.
One thing that may have affected me yesterday was the heat. It wasn't a scorcher but it was definitely one of the hotter days we have had in a few weeks. At midday it was taking more out of me than I thought. Realistically, I didn't feel any better (or worse) today but I didn't get that can't-go-on-another-step feeling like on Monday.
So I kept from looking at my watch as long as I could and when I did, I had gone half an hour. Since I felt pretty good and I decided to finish the whole hour. It was... workmanlike. Which is as good as I can hope for at this point. I will try and put in half-an-hour tomorrow and see how it goes.

Fintness Run
Distance: not sure
Time: 30 minutes
Surface: concrete/asphalt
Weather Conditions: warm, sunny, 80s, noon run
Location: Miraflores, Lima, Peru
Secret weapon: not a damn bit of good
Comments: Well, it has been a bit more than a week since I have been on the pavement. I had been feeling blah (not sick but not good), then there was my little adventure in Chile and, after that, dealing with the election. So I had lots of good intentions of putting in a good long run to make up for it today.
Dinna happen.
It turns out I was pretty much at the same spot I was when I left off on April 1. I got to half-an-hour with all the good intentions in the world and it just wasn't there. So I am not happy with the result but the run, other than that, went fine. No major problems, just nada in the tank.
So I am going to try going about it the other way this week. I will try and put in a half-hour run every day this week and see if that works. It certainly can't do worse than what I am doing already.
