I hit 400 miles last week with my workhorse shoes, Saucony Triumph ISO 4, and decided it was time to hang them up. I still have the Brooks Ghost 11, in the closet but, for some reason, I don't wear them that much. They have become my backup/wear around pair and I guess I'm fine with that.
Since I was in Fort Worth last week, I stopped by at the Fort Worth Running Company and tried on a few pairs. The new version of the Saucony Triumph had a ton of room in the toebox and felt a little weird. I opted for the newest version of the Brooks Glycerin instead. I've had a pair of these before and I know they are a solid shoe.

Fitness Run
Distance: 4.04 miles
Time: 42:30
Pace: 10:30 min/mi
Comments: First morning run in quite awhile. I was on the fence about doing this one but the cooler temps and progress this week was too compelling. I laced up and got out the door.
It was pretty much the slog I expected. My legs are beat and I haven't really eaten well at all this week. But I had zero interest in style points, just getting the miles in. The hills on the second half were pretty rough, though. I'm not upset at all about a day off tomorrow.

Fitness Run
Distance: 4.05
Time: 42:28
Pace: 10:29
Comments: The relatively cool but remarkably dry weather is holding so I took a chance on a lunchtime run. It was hot but only about as awful as my conditioning made it. Another 10% or so of humidity would have been an issue and another 10% past that would be dangerous.
This whole run was an exercise in staying distracted just to get it over and done with. There was nothing fancy or special about it at all. I don't think I suffered quite as much on the big hill as I did yesterday - but that a matter of degree, not kind.

Fitness Run
Distance: 4.01
Time: 41:48
Pace: 10:26
Comments: The week from hell pretty much squished any effort to follow up on last Tuesday's run. The morning from hell today offered an opportunity to get one in. Well, that and a cold front that made is moderately less hellish.
I went a bit faster but certainly not picking up any style points along the way. It was not a complete slog. Let's call it slog-ish. Sloggy-like. Anyway, I got it done. With a little luck, I'll try and get another in shortly.
