Fitness Run

Distance: 4.02 miles
Time: 39:45
Pace: 9:53 min/mi

Comments: Got out the door a bit later due to a number of projects that had to be taken care of. With the sunny weather and cool temperatures there was an ABSURD amount of people out. Most were making an effort to keep their distance but, man, it was unnerving.

As a result, I ran this a hell of a lot faster than I was really planning. I was hoping on doing an easier run in advance of the longer one tomorrow. Nope. Sub 10 min/mi pace.

Weirdly enough, at the end of the thing my heart rate was mostly in Zone 4 and only a little bit in Zone 5. Who knows?

Fitness Run

Distance:  4.02 miles
Time: 41:17
Pace: 10:16 min/mi

Comments: Not gonna lie, my legs are pretty tired. Even though I would have preferred to take the day off, I got outside rather early. The cool temperatures are still here and that keeps the newbies off the trails for awhile.

I not only ran this one a bit too fast, I did it a little bit too hard as well. Almost 70 percent of the run was in the Zone 5 range. I could really feel the fatigue on the hills of the last mile.

I'm pretty excited about the off day tomorrow. We'll see what I can accomplish over the weekend.

Fitness Run

Distance: 5.02 miles
Time: 51:39
Pace: 10:18 min/mi

Comments: The cool spell continues and it was enough to be uncomfortable this morning. I waited a little longer to head out as a result. Still, it's warm enough in the sunlight, so the long sleeves were a bit much at the end.

I felt pretty good today so I decided to add an extra mile to the effort. The bigger problem was the overambitious pace. Still, almost the entirety of the run was in Zone 4 heart rate, which suggests I was in the right range.

I need to be careful with these extra miles though. That's a lot in the past five days and an injury right now would be highly unwelcome.

Fitness Run

Distance: 4.02 miles
Time: 38:36
Pace: 9:36 min/mi

Comments: The long run on Sunday really knocked me for a loop. I pushed myself much harder than I realized at first. I was pretty sore that afternoon and yesterday wasn't much better. There was no sharp pain suggesting injury though.

So the plan today was to take it easy with a nice recovery run. The weather cooled down once again so I figured  I could hold the effort in check. Nope. Ended up blasting out one of the fastest ones I've done in awhile.

Mostly I was trying to focus on cadence but, for some reason, I kept creeping up pacewise. A good two thirds of the run was in Zone 4, which suggests I wasn't pushing it overhard either. We'll see what the rest of the week brings.

Long Run

Distance: 9.22 miles
Time: 1:36:44
Pace: 10:30 min/mi

Comments: I really wasn't sure about how far I was going to run today when I walked out the door. But with the lack of traffic and reasonable temperatures I decided to head to downtown and back. The result was what I have dubbed, The Easter Morning Zombie Apocalypse 15K.

The lack of traffic really was creepy. I've never seen these streets so empty in the daytime. The upshot is I really wasn't too concerned about my safety for a change. And the different route was a nice change of pace.

The run itself went fine. I really wasn't planning on pushing it. The heat and humidity ganged up on me along with the hills on the last three miles. So that wasn't a lot of fun. I thought I was taking it pretty easy but heart rate was in Zone 5 for about half the effort.
