Comments: It's pretty clear I have to get going earlier than I have been. By 7:30 a.m. all the dog walkers (with and without leashes) are on the sidewalks and the HVAC repair vans have taken over the streets. It's not a hell of a lot of fun trying to avoid them all and just get the damn miles in. The other problem is this was the coolest morning in months, so everyone decided to get a little walk in.

The start of this one was fine but not as good as yesterday. I had a lot of trouble trying to concentrate and keep things steady and at an even pace. On the plus side, I never really struggled or felt I was just trying to hold it together and get the thing over with. My overall time dropped a little bit as well, but that could have been the weather.

Comments: Got busy with tasks this morning and started the run a little later than I would like. Turns out a cold front went through as I was getting this one in so the temperature was much nicer than I was expecting. Rain held off until I got in the car for work so, yay?

Felt pretty good throughout this effort. Focused on pace and keeping my attention on the run (rather than letting my mind wander in an effort to just get through it). Overall I feel I did OK but the improvement from last week or the week before is pretty stark.

Fitness Run

Comments: The long run was still making itself felt at least the first half of this one. My legs weren't as sore as last week and I didn't struggle as much through the whole effort, but it was clear I was still recovering from the eight miles.

The heat and humidity weren't fun either. Waiting until mid-morning to run is really a mistake this time of year. Might be different in a month or so, but for now, it's still summer rules.

Long Run

Comments: I was feeling pretty worn out on Friday and, out of an abundance of caution, I decided to take Saturday off as well. So I should have been pretty fresh going out for this one. And I was, kinda.

First off, I was noticeably dehydrated. An issue that became more of a problem as the run went on. My legs felt pretty strong at the start and held up nicely through 2/3 of the run or so. The last couple miles with the hills were tough though. 

Finally, the GPS went to shit at some point so I'm sure I ran farther than the 8.1 miles it guessed and I'm absolutely certain that pace is flat wrong. There is no way I did the last two miles sub 11 min/mi.
